A recent study was done in South Korea to determine if Pilates was rigorous enough to improve cholesterol levels. 22 college age women were divided into 2 groups: a control group, and a group who performed pilates 70-80 minutes per day 3 days a week for 8 weeks. The conclusion was that the exercising group increased their level of HDL "good cholesterol". No impact was achieved for other cholesterols or triclycerides. More research is recommended but it's positive news for those of us who love our #pilatesclasses!
