Here at our #PilatesReformerStudioinMissionValley we are big advocates of stretching. Yes, we know how averse to #stretching some people are. Let's talk for a moment about stretching out your hip flexors. (Those are the muscles in the front of your hip which raise your legs when you are seated.) These get soooo overused when a person sits a lot.
Overused equals tight, and tightness in these muscles means a low back that hurts. In order to give our clients the #bestpilates every time, we follow the method of lengthening muscles at the same time as strengthening them.
This stretch can be performed standing on the floor in a forward leg lunge position. Tilt your pelvis forward while keeping your torso upright. Or better yet, do this on the Reformer or TRX. (we can show you how)
We include this stretch in every class we teach at Mission Valley Pilates. We think we owe it to our clients! (and their backs!)
At Mission Valley Pilates & Fitness, we incorporated TRX workouts into each Pilates Reformer class a few years ago. We find our clients love it as another form of core training, but with really challenging muscle strengthening at the same time. The results are clearly visible with all our clients!
