Weight bearing exercise helps in losing weight , burning calories, and building muscle. But it is also great for your bones.
The strength of your bones is measured as "bone mineral density" or BMD. Formation of bones during age 25-30 exceeds its deterioration. But after age 40 or so, this swings the opposite direction and we all (particularly women) need to assume a different strategy to stay healthy.
In recent studies it has been found that women who combine aerobic exercise and weight training had a greater BMD in their lumbar spine than women who did only aerobic exercise.

This core workout combines not only exercise in weight bearing position, but it is a "suspended" weight bearing position which really gets results.

Shoulder dysfunction is widespread, causing pain in 21% of the population. 40% of these cases are problematic for at least a year. When the full skeleton is in proper alignment, the shoulder works properly. But when the middle (thoracic) spine is extremely flexed forward (like when we sit over the computer keyboard), the shoulders can not possibly perform well, since the scapular stabilizers and rotator cuff muscles can not move effectively.
