Most of us devoted to regular #exercise experience leg cramps at one time or another. The most annoying ones come in the middle of the night after a day of heavy workouts. The widely quoted remedy is "eat a banana" for its potassium "punch". But did you know that the leading cause of muscle cramps is dehydration, and that a banana is way down the list of foods high in potassium?
Potassium is found in abundance in a huge number of common foods: peaches, lima beans, pears, potatos, spinach, peas, watermelon to name a few are ALL better sources for potassium than bananas!
So if you are a #TRX or #pilatesreformer aficionado, investigate some of these other healthy foods to prevent muscle cramps.
Just in case you hadn't noticed, men and women are different! That becomes clear in the pilates room of our San Diego studio. Men in general are less flexible, have a thicker back, and are more bulky. They tend to be tight, especially through hips, spine, hamstrings, pecs, upper traps. They tend to have a forward head posture more than women.
Ta-DA! Enter Pilates! In each of our customized pilates reformer classes, we focus on all of this! Men constantly comment how stretched out they feel as a result of this coaching.
Knowing the male propensity for loving killer strength training, we also offer a portion of the class on our TRX equipment. Be warned tho, we choose the TRX exercises great for your corestrength, but also flexibility. Hmmm..can't be that bad, can it? Come on in, guys!
Suspended TRX planks are a favorite exercise in our San Diego pilates studio. There are many versions of them, all of which result in a killer workout!
