Many of us are familiar with how too much sitting makes us tight. Hip flexors shorten in that position, and will eventually cause #backproblems. What is also happening as you sit is a certain amount of atrophy in the glutes and hamstrings. But you need to be in front of that computer hours and hours each day...what to do?
In addition to this, the whole front of your body becomes overused, and tight! The whole back side of your body gets weak. You need to stretch!
Much of the power of Pilates is in the simultaneous strengthening of muscles at the same time as stretching them.
Joseph Pilates was definitely ahead of his time in the development of this method of exercise. First developed as a series of exercises done on the floor (mat pilates), it evolved to a transfer of the same exercises onto the Pilates Reformer, and is enhanced at our #MissionValleyPilatesStudio by the addition of #TRX strength training.
Constant evolution makes staying healthy way easier!
